Pet Shop Boys'la tanışmam; o dönemler TRT'de sıklıkla yayınlanan "It's a sin" klibi ile olmuştur. Neil Tennant'ın geçmişte aldığı sıkı katolik eğitime ithafen yazdığı parçanın; alegorik tarzdaki bu klibi beni nedense çok ürkütürdü. Hele ki bir keşişin ateşin önünde attığı ürkütücü bakışı asla unutamam..
Genel olarak gruptan bahsedecek olursak; Synthpop tarzında müzik yapan Pet Shop Boys 1981'de Londra'da kurulmuş. Solisti Neil Tennant ile klavyecisi Chris Lowe bir elektronik eşya dükkanında tanışmışlar. Bakmışlar ki müzik zevkleri aynı; hadi bir grup kuralı-m demişler.. Gruba, evcil hayvan dükkanlarında çalışan arkadaşlarının anısına Pet Shop Boys adını vermişler.
80'lerin sonuna doğru ünlenmeye başlayan İngiliz grup; o yıllarda özellikle "West and Girls", "One More Chance", "It's a Sin", "Always on My Mind, "What Have I Done to Deserve This?", "Domino Dancing" gibi parçalarla listelerde kendisine yer bulabilmiştir.
Pet Shop Boys günümüzde de yeni albümler çıkarıp, kariyerine başarı ile devam etmektedir..
80'lerin dijital çığlığıdır.
80lere damgasını vurmuş guruplardan bir tanesi.. En son Madonna'nın sorry şarkısını remixleyerek hala formda olduklarını kanıtlamışlardır.

a aa evet Rock'n Coke ta artık sahneden inmelerine yakın eski parçaları sölemeleri onların kurtuluşu oldu.
Ben sevmem aslında eski şarkıları çoook fazla lakin pet shop boysta beni alıp götüren bişi var sözleri de çok süper deil ama bilmiyorum,çok rahatlatıyo.Annemler de dinliyomuş hatta eski kasetleri var evde ve sanırım hastasıyım :) Yeni şarkılarını pek fazla dinlemiyorum yalnız

It's a sin parçası ve klibi 80 kuşağı için unutulmazlar arasındadır..
Rock'n Coke un ağır bombasıydı geceyi kurtarmıştı
Bütün Londra'lılar aynı değilmiş gözlerimle gördüm sıcak ve espirili :)

Synthpop ve new wave türünün şarap mahiyetindeki, tadı yıllar geçtikçe güzelleşen ikilisi, zeki, küstah, romantik ancak her zaman keyifli ve dans pistlerinin yıllardır vazgeçilmeyenleri arasında olan bestelere sahip. 20 yıldır dillere destan Christopher Lowe (mimar) ve Neil Tennant’tan (o zamanlar 80’lerin en prestijli müzik dergisi “Smash Hits” yazarı) oluşan bu entellektüel pop ikilisi “West End Girls”, “It’s a Sin”,”Domino Dancing” gibi hitleriye tüm dünyada zirveye tırmandı durdu.
1984 yılında çıkardıkları “West End Girls”ün ilk versiyonu çıktığı hafta Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Belçika ve Fransa’daki gece kulüplerinde en çok çalınan şarkı oldu. Aynı single ABD, Kanada, Finlandiya, Hong Kong, İrlanda, İsrail, Yeni Zelanda ve Norveç’te bir numaraya yükselirken tüm dünyada 1.5 milyon adet sattı. İkiliye üç farklı uluslararası ödül getiren single’ın ardından “It’s a Sin” ile grup daha da ünlendi ve yine bir çok single listesine birinci sıradan girmeyi başardı. Yine listelere bir numaradan giren 1988 yılı single’ları “Heart” Pet Shop Boys’a ingiltere, Almanya ve İtalya ‘da “En İyi Grup” ve “En İyi Hit” ödüllerini kazandırdı. 80’lerin electro ve synthpop’undan house ve techno’ya “Bilingual” albümleri ile latin ritimlerine kayan ancak her zaman gündemi yakalayan yorumlarıyla Pet Shop Boys en son “Release” albümünü çıkarttı. İkili, yeni çalışmalarıyla da elektronik ve dans listelerinde bir numaraya kadar yükseldi.
