Baki Yigit was born in Aydin, a city in the Aegean Region of Turkey, in the year 1954. He graduated from Ankara University, Political Science Faculty, International Relations Department. After shortly working as an assistant manager for a Japanese company, and an administrative officer for The Turko-British Association in Ankara, he moved to Izmir to serve The Ministry of Culture. Afterwards, he worked for a private bank, and got retired.
He has been interested in literature since his childhood. His first short story was published in Cocuk Bahcesi, the children's magazine, in 1968. He won the 3rd prize at a countrywide poetry competition among young amateurs in 1972. He began translating during his studentship years. His first translation of poetry into English took place in Reflections, the United Nations issue, in 1985. He contributed to start issuing Karsi Edebiyat, a literary periodical, in 1986. He established 'Iz Yayinlari' in order to provide some young and talented poets and short story writers publish their first or` second books in 1987.
His poems and translations are seen in various periodicals and books such as Tayvan'dan Sesler - Modern Tayvan Siiri Antolojisi (Voices from Taiwan - An Anthology of Modern Taiwanese Poetry), Istanbul 2010.

06.02.2014 - 23:44Ahmet Telli'nin Belki Yine Gelirim adlı kitabında bu şiirin sondan üçüncü dizesi 'tutturmuş şimdi ova' şeklinde. Burada 'tutturmuş şimdi doğa' diye yanlış yazılmış.
