Language teachers cannot make good preachers
they’re totally different creatures
the former follow the rules of language,
which is rule-governed behaviour
the latter stick to the rules of belief and behaviour
laid down by the Church and the Saviour
language teachers try their best to stick to the rules
but their students break them
preachers break the rules
but their pupils obey them
there’s only one common feature:
neither the teachers nor the preachers
make such rules

rules are tools for the wise to muse, choose and use
for the fools, they’re pools of muddy water to confuse.
