Cezaevinde seni düşündükçe
Yağmurlar bana küserdi.
Rüzgâr soğuk eserdi geceleri,
Çarpardı duvara;
Yosunlar neminden beslenirdi.

Dar pencerelerde bir avuç mavi
Bir çift güvercin avluda
Kıvranırdı,
Volta atarken bıraktığımız ekmeklerin peşinde.

Her mektubun satır aralarında
Bir yürek gelirdi.
O yüzden
Postacılar yorgun
Mektuplar ağırdı.
Gelenide gelmeyeni de dert olurdu.

Bir genç vardı
On altı yaşında
Daha bıyıkları yeni terlemiş
Elleri kirlenmiş ama kirlenmemişti yüreği.
Sevdiği biri varmış,
Yeni evlenmiş.
Geçen her günü iki kayıttan düşerdi
Birini kendi için
Diğerini sevdiği için çizerdi.
On altısındaydı, gençti
Salkım saçak düşleri ayağı kaymadan düşlerdi.
Her cuma
Üç çift temiz iç çamaşır,
İki paket sigarası gelirdi.
Bir de sevdiği
Yaşlı anasının kolunda
Birbirlerine bakar konuşamazlardı…

PRISON

As I think of you in prison
It would have been cross with me, the rain.
The wind would have blown cold in the nights,
Slapping the dike;
The mosses would have fed by its dampness.

A handful of the blue in the narrow windows
A couple of doves in the yard
Would have wriggled,
As we pace up and down,
In the pursuit of the bread we have left behind.

Between every line of the letter
One heart would have come
That is why
Mailmen have been weary
The mail heavy.
It was all troubling whether it comes or even none come.

There a young one
Sixteen years old
Just appearing the moustaches
His hands were impure not his heart though.
He had somebody to love,
Just a newly married one.
He used to cross out every day gone
One for himself
The other for his beloved
He was sixteen years old
He could have dreamt the dreams in tatters without losing his footing.
Every Friday
Three couple of clean clothes would have arrived,
Two packs of cigarettes.
One more thing
His beloved mother in his arms
They would have looked each other with no words uttered…
