On my birthday I stand,
Pain clenches within my chest,
A contraction gripping my heart,
I bear the agony of existence,
The profound pain of being...
I was unaware,
How closely separation (Firaq) embraced union (Wuslat),
Those who endure the pain of birth, children,
Lovers, pregnant with the anguish of delivery.
'That Syllable' lingers on my tongue,
I had no inkling:
That Hicran (Hijran) is the flipside of Wuslat,
It is the countenance of Wuslat,
Hicran, the audacious faceless entity,
I remained ignorant.
Today, I bask in the day of my birth,
I dwell in the realm of the east,
Vuslat and his primary companion, Hijran,
Come forth, be born.
