Abstinence is a necessary virtue
For the conduct of spiritual exercises

Abstinence is to be able to say “no” to your lust
For the sake of Allah

Abstinence is to be able to share your last bread
For protecting an orphan in the African Sahara

Abstinence is to be able to turn back on the material World
For reaching the eternal happiness
-as greediness will always make you unhappy

Abstinence is patient
Patient is love
Love is kind

Abstinence does not delight in evil
But rejoices with the truth…

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres…
